Chapter 12: Birthday Expansion

Rain may love that costume chest of hers, but Ida still prefers the dollhouse of earlier days.

Perhaps the fact that Rain is not playing with her costume chest this morning is a sign that she's ready to age up and Ida's not.

In fact, Rain is spending the morning planning her birthday party. She invites several of her classmates who have aged up to teens, including Rosalind.

They gossip about Maxwell Mae and Brandie Frio, who also aged up recently into seriously unattractive sims.

*shudders at the thought of those two spawning children one day*

Rain also invites some younger kids, for her sister's sake.

Meanwhile! Alexander spots an elderly Geoffrey Landgraab making out and flirting with Darlene, his daughter-in-law! Man, your son's wife, really?

Alex hurries home after that glimpse of disturbing.

(/meanwhile)

The last guests to arrive are Marlin Wan, who aged up yesterday, and Maxwell Mae's little brother Chase, who is at least as ugly as his brother.

Time for the main event!

Rain wishes for a good teenage trait.

She gains the Hopeless Romantic trait. She is now Artistic, Disciplined, Animal Lover, and Hopeless Romantic.

Celebratory dance with the bestie. They decide to make it official, and become Best Friends Forever.

Rain appreciates her friend's loyalty and willingness to brave the crowds to help celebrate Rain's aging up.

"You know I hate people, I'm only here for you babe."

BRANDIE GET THE %&$! OUT OF THE SHOT.

Ida thinks Chase Mae smells.

Marlin has the Good trait, and he is kind and polite as Ida prattles on to him. He can tell she likes him, but how he feels about that is a mystery. Mostly, he is very nice all the time.

"So, you have a job now? That's cool. I don't ever want to have a job, it looks boring. My mom's always so busy. I think making things is cool, like my dad does. My dad's pretty cool, right? Hey, are you going to eat that cake?"

Ida likes this song.

*cough* *choke*

This face, I swear...

The younger kids play video games and make-believe while the older kids talk and dance.

From left to right, we have Earl Steel, Perry Alvi, Mathew Ansari-Wadsworth, and Chase Mae.

Marlin's a Big Kid Now, but that doesn't mean he's not down for some fierce pillow fighting.

Ida's thinking about how she wishes Chase would just GO AWAY.

As her party draws to a close, Rain checks out her mother's training dummy in her study. She doesn't even stop to fix her age-up outfit; she's always wanted a crack at this thing, and now she's finally big enough to have a go.

Martial Arts training is serious business.

Rain decides to put her hard-working nature to use and look for a part-time job.

She starts work at the bookshop tomorrow.

"Happy birthday! You're my favorite sister."

Marlin continues to dance in the kitchen long after the last guest has left.

Party face!

Now that Rain is a teen and the Hands are doing well financially, the girls are allowed their own rooms. Rain moves into Alex and Shanti's old room, while they move into a new master bedroom upstairs. The bunk bed gets shoved back into the laundry room/nursery/clutter room, since the girls don't need it anymore.

Notes -

I'm actually really proud of how the house expansion turned out. Usually I get so frustrated with building and just end up adding extra box-rooms next to all my other box-rooms and then everything is boring and empty. The cool thing about blogging is you're made to pay more attention to these kinds of things, because people are watching, and I'm really excited that my house actually looks like a home for once. Everything is much more organized and well-decorated than my norm. There's even a little hallway! It's very exciting.

Still a little empty, but that'll change as the family collects clutter.

Also, I'm surprised at how well parties have been going in my game. I've only had one mediocre party so far, and it was Rain's slumber party because one of her guests bolted home before bedtime. Parties are usually such a hassle in this game...

Thanks for reading, folks!

  1. Rain is a pretty teen.

Nice job on the expansions! I wish it was as easy to build in RL as it is in Sims! I tend to keep my sim houses sparse, because I am impatient and don't like to wait long for things to render properly, lol. =)
